Este artículo tiene por objetivo analizar el papel fiscalizador de los concejales en nuestro ordenamiento jurídico municipal. Para ello, revisaremos las facultades y atribuciones que otorga nuestra legislación para la consecución de dicho cometido. Además, se analizará la escasa protección que da, tanto la normativa constitucional como legal, al ejercicio de dicha labor. De forma paralela a lo anteriormente señalado, se tratarán las facultades que tienen los miembros de concejos municipales y los medios de protección en caso de entorpecimiento de sus funciones, en los casos de la legislación española, colombiana y ecuatoriana.

The ain of the current article is to analyze the role of auditing of the city councillors in our Chilean legal system. For that purpose, we are going to review the powers and the competences that our legal system provides. In addition, we are going to examine the scarce protection that the constitutional and legal frameworks provide for that role. At the same time, we are going to go over the powers of the Spanish, Colombian and Ecuadorian members of city councils and the protection instruments that their respective legislations provide in case of hindering the normal functioning of their duties.
