El presente texto sistematiza y resume distintas tradiciones constitucionales con el objetivo de confrontar sus postulados con el reconocimiento de nuevos derechos, en especial, de los derechos sociales. El análisis se inicia con el surgimiento de las tres tradiciones clásicas del constitucionalismo: la inglesa, la americana y la francesa. Luego se exponen los hechos más sustanciales de la tradición alemana de posguerra. El texto concluye con la irrupción de los derechos sociales como nueva tradición del Derecho Constitucional.

This text systematizes and summarizes different constitutional traditions in order to confront their postulates with the recognition of new rights, especially social rights. The analysis begins with the emergence of the three classical traditions of constitutionalism; the English, the American and the French. Then the most substantial facts of the post-war German tradition are exposed. The text concludes with the emergence of social rights as a new tradition of Constitutional Law.
